"How beautiful it is, my children, this cross of the Legion of Honour, when, earned through acts of heroism in the face of the enemy, it becomes the sacred emblem of the honour of a military family, when fathers pass it on to their children, along with the memory of their example, and finally, when it shines in the homes of true Frenchmen, like a star to guide future generations. Why must it have been so often lavished, sometimes sullied, and even sold one day!"
(Commander DRIANT / Captain Danrit - Petit Marsouin - 1901)
